Analytical Approach for the Study of Teotihuacan Mural Paintings from the Techinantitla Complex

Techinantitla building complex, in the Amanalco neighborhood of ancient city Teotihuacan, is famous for iconography and quality mural paintings found this site. A significant part heritage has been lost due to looting. In recent years, an interdisciplinary research project was developed study limited patrimony that left. As study, we first employed geophysical techniques reconstruct architectural pattern compound’s remaining walls, where other may still be found. Then, applied a non-invasive methodology characterize large set fragments recovered 1980s gain information on their pigments manufacturing techniques. This included False Color Infrared Imaging, X-ray Fluorescence Fiber-Optics Reflectance Spectroscopy, led identification hematite, calcite, malachite, azurite unidentified blue pigment.
